Yes.  If you use the telephone for long distance phone calls, you will need to use your own calling card.  Phone calls can be made to the cabin for free.  The phone # is (530) 862-1393. Cell phones may work in very few locations in Sierra City, so use the house phone for your local-call needs free of charge.

No. This is a tobacco-free cabin.  If you smoke outdoors, please be sure cigarettes are disposed of properly.

How do we get to the Yuba River?
There are some trails and roads that access the river. You can take the road to Wild Plum campground just north of town to get to the river. Also, the RV park next to the Sierra Buttes Hotel has been accommodating but usually the campground manager asks for people using their dirt hiking trail to get to the river to sign a form. There is also a trail off Spring Street (take a right through the field before BB Lane), and at Lake Street.

Can I read the books on the shelves?
Yes, but please leave the books and maps.

Can I pan for gold?
You may pan for gold in the Yuba River if you wish.

Can I use the grill?
Yes.  Only use grills where it is currently located. (NO BBQ USE ON FRONT DECK OR INSIDE THE HOUSE)
The grill, patio and deck tables and chairs are available for use.

Are there Lions and tigers and bears… oh my!
There are bears in the area, but you won't have any problems with them, as long as you don't leave any sort of food or garbage out, or in your car at night.

Are pets allowed?
Housebroken, well behaved pets on flea and tick medication are accepted on a case by case basis.  A $25 occupancy fee will apply.  Read our requests under Cabin Instructions.

Where is the closest market?
There is a small market on the main street of Sierra City which is about a 1-minute walk. The general store is open every day offering everything you could need including beer, wine (good selection) and liquor. It also has a great deli with delicious sandwiches.
